Program Overview:

SIYS: Mental Health & Restorative Justice Programs

At Struggle Is Your Success (SIYS), we believe that healing, accountability, and opportunity must work together. Our Mental Health and Restorative Justice programs are designed to empower youth to transform pain into purpose through mentorship, self-awareness, and skill development.

In partnership with Peer Mediation and Skills Training (PMAST) and the Calgary Young Offender Centre (CYOC), SIYS delivers innovative, trauma-informed programming that helps youth build confidence, emotional intelligence, and leadership. Together, we create safe and supportive spaces where young people can reflect, heal, and rebuild their sense of belonging.

Our restorative approach focuses on repairing harm, fostering empathy, and helping youth re-enter their communities with renewed hope and purpose. Through peer mediation, mentorship circles, and mental health workshops, participants learn that struggle is not a setback—it’s the foundation of their success.

Because at SIYS, we know that every story of healing strengthens the community and shapes a brighter, more just future.

Program Goals

At SIYS, our mission and vision for youth focus on three core areas:

Build agency and confidence, influence peers, and take on community-based projects

Youth learn to envision a business idea (creativity and innovation), plan its creation (goal-setting and problem-solving), and bring it to life (actionable project planning). They conclude the program by presenting their ideas publicly, honing essential communication skills.

  • Ages 14–25

  • Committed to participating in experiential learning and community-based projects
