Project Overview:

Struggle Is Your Success (SIYS) Is an entrepreneurial mindset development program for youth aged 14-21. The program helps youth to discover, develop, and set goals to achieve their full potential by engaging them in a variety of activity-based entrepreneurship activities that promote them to problem solve, shift their mindset on possibility, build their self-confidence, find a sense of belonging with other entrepreneurs who have struggled, and shift their social and emotional competencies. We provide quality programming in Entrepreneurship development to youth aged 14 to 21 years old who commit to participating in community and experiential learning, and learning new skills for their future employment, education, and community-based giving projects. This document outlines a new program design for SIYS Programming and includes an updated literature review, needs assessment, program rationale, change strategies, and outcomes.

The Youth State Report (2021) references leadership and impact. The impact is Empowerment. This empowerment occurs through strategies that include “relationships based on collaboration and trust; accepting the client’s definition of the problem; identifying and building on the client’s strengths and providing advocacy and access to resources. It is essential to create services that enable youth to become empowered with healthy self-images and a desire to participate in their own future. By empowerment-focused services with experts in the fields of entrepreneurship, social services, trauma-informed practices, and self-efficacy, youth who can access this knowledge are able to improve a willingness to cooperate in programs that are aligned with SIYS and boost self-esteem to be empowered to become contributing members of their community.

Project Goals: The three areas that most align with SIYS and our mission and vision for youth are leadership and impact, employment and innovation, skills, and learning. SIYS is working to meet the needs of the youth who called for more mentorship, leadership, and skill-building opportunities where they can make impacts in their communities through our 5-week program where they learn to build agency through working with diverse populations and communities learning new skill sets and uses of software technologies.

●        Leadership and Impact

●        Employment

●        innovation, skills, and learning

Objective: To have youth ‘unearth their potential’ by turning their stories of struggles into lessons of success and hope by strengthening their interpersonal skills of dreaming up a business idea (imagination), planning how to create it (problem-solving & goal setting), and building it into an actionable plan (solid foundation), and delivering the idea to the group (public speaking). Build capacity in Musap as a not-for-profit program lead, in not-for-profit management, and build the organization’s capacity as a community builder. Program Goal: To build the capacity of SIYS to develop and deliver a program aimed to serve the youth who access through community-based organizations or are part of the greater community and are seeking to learn more about an entrepreneurial mindset. To deliver three programs a month with five-ten youths in each program, to impact 15-30 youths per month by shifting their mindset to think about their values.

How S.I.Y.S Program Started!

Did you know diamonds are formed under pressure, heat and with time?

Diamonds are found deep in mountains, in the dark. It takes a skilled team of people to find diamonds in the mountains. They drill and excavate them out of the earth, identify which boulders need to be opened to find the diamonds, and then the process of tumbling and polishing the diamonds for sale.

Diamonds are then sold to different people to sell; retail stores in malls, high end jewelry stores, and independent artists. It takes a skilled team of people to find diamonds in the mountains.
